All Star Weekend

Hey all. I’m in St.Lo uis chilling in my room and thought I’d share some of this experience with you guys. I am enjoying myself and spending time with my old teammates (Shannon Boxx – who is my roommate, Marta and Aya) and new teammates. It is great to hang out with everyone off the field as everyone has such great personalities.

I got in last night from New Jersey (I flew back to coach at Rutgers University – where I’ve been for 4 years now) for a couple days which was nice. It was sad to leave LA after the championship game because I’ve made such great friends with everyone over there. We had team dinner together with Umea, the Swedish team we are playing and then a meeting with head coach Abner Rogers, our league commissioner Tanya and CEO Mary who recapped the season and what to expect for tomorrow.  A couple of us went out to ice cream next door, hung out for a while then off to bed.

This morning we woke up, had breakfast then headed downtown where we took some pictures (I’ve attached a few) and one big one down by the arch. You’ll notice that none of the pictures are regular poses cus I figured you’ll see enough of those on other websites so I attached only KK specials…hope you enjoy.

We went to practice which was fun. Hope and I had fun training with my old Canadian gk coach/now new US gk coach Paul Rogers which was like old times. He had a lot of fun blasting balls past us. We then joined the team and played a small sided game and finished with shooting. There was so much talent on the field it was amazing to be a part of it. I think I had to pinch myself at one point. I had a blast J

Anyway we are back at the hotel getting ready for the awards banquet tonight which I must get ready for. Hope you like the pictures…I’ll try to get one or two pics in before the end of the night up also.

Hey guys,

I hope you can all either attend or watch the WPS final as we take on Sky Blue FC from New Jersey. It will be a great game, I promise. I have been waiting for this game all season. At the beginning of the season this was our goal and here we are, less than 24 hours away from all our dreams coming true. It has been a crazy week with the dodgers game (Marta throwing the first pitch), to appearances and fun interviews. It is Championship time so we will leave it all on the field. We all play for our teammates, our families, our friends and our fans. I personally cannot wait. Please join us and support us in whatever way you can. Tomorrow is going to be a great day and really I cannot wait….

We clinched the Regular season Championship on Thursday in the Bay Area with a 0-0 tie. We will be hosting the championship game August 22nd at Home Depot Center. Can’t wait to be a part of history. I love my teammates, I love LA and I LOVE SOCCER…

PUMA, the greatest sponsors in the world, were kind enough to send myself, Johanna Frish and Marta (who was nominated for Best International Female Athlete).

Our celebration after Boxxy scored our first goal against Chicago. We all love Michael Jackson as his music has inspired so many. I know I listened to him before every game and I know that he helped so many people, in a positive sense. His music will live on for generations and he truly is a legend.

For those of you who’ve sent me messages, yes it was me on CNN but it was pure chance. We live close to Michael’s house and pass by every day. The day he was taken to the hospital helicopters were surrounding the area so we went to check out and see what was going on. The news had announced he had been taken to the hospital but there were no official announcements made as we headed over there. When we got to his house it was there that it was announced. I still cannot believe it at times because there is something about him and his music that you feel is never supposed to die. I know you will never not hear Michael again because he had found a way to reach generations thru and true, but it is sad that no one will be able to see him live again. I’m glad we got a chance to do this dance on the field and play his songs, in his honor before the game.
