Well yesterday was another great day. We had one training session, our first of the year up at SFU. The weather was nice, a bit crisp but the sun was out for the most part, so it was warm. I did not get to train with the girls but again it was great to be out there with them. We did our new warm-ups with Andrew, who along with his company Twist, is our new strength and conditioning coach.

They took the team through a 40 minute warm up filled with exercises to get you warm, as well as injury prevention, speed and agility and functional strength. Following that, they team played a smaller scrimmage and since we were short on numbers, Bridgy hopped in….he almost scored once on a beautiful layoff from Timko, aka Juarez, but Erin made the save to rob Bridgy of his golden moment….

Following the season, we had the remainder of the day off. Sophie, Mel and I were the only ones staying in the hotel so we enjoyed a stroll downtown and had some sushi which was delicious. Well yesterday was another testing day. Most the girls did the 40 yard test and half did the VO2 Max…For those of you that are not too familiar with what the test is…neither am I….What I do know is that you are running on the treadmill, while hooked up to a machine and they do a little prick to get a touch of blood at the beginning and throughout as part of the test….I will get more info on it incase you are more interested…

So I am currently in my mom’s classroom which I enjoyed spending the afternoon with her students talking about life and trials and working hard to accomplish dreams. It was great to spend time with the kids and answers questions and just hang around.

They were so cute. Some of them made me little heartfelt pictures and notes…so cute… We made a deal, if they do an extra 15 minutes of homework everyday, I would come back before the end of the school year and hang out with them again….I hope they hold their end because I had a great time visiting them….they must have a good teacher I guess…ha ha… Read the rest of this entry »

I am writing to you today from rainy Vancouver, Canada. I am back in camp with the national team. I will only be here for a week then I head back to New Jersey to continue my rehab and hopefully will be back by the end of March…I’m planning on spending my birthday on the 30th in camp…that will be the greatest gift I could ever have so we will see…

Today was tests test and more tests. I started the morning with blood work so that they will know exactly what immunization shots we will need to get prior to heading to China.

We also met individually with a nutritionist, our therapists and the team did some functional training. I have not been cleared to do much so I cheered on. It is so great to be around the team. Read the rest of this entry »
