It’s do or die tournament time for us at Rutgers University.
We are climbing the rankings (12th in the country on the NSCAA poll). We are hosting this weekend against Hartford tonight (my old assistant coach from my WUSA days and with Boston Breakers, John Natale is their head coach) so it should be exciting.
If we win that game, we will face off against either the winner of Boston University or Boston College on Sunday at noon. I remember playing in the tournament as a player and it was very exciting.
It is much different as a coach, the same excitement but once the whistle blows, all the game film and telling the girls what may happen and preparing is no longer in your hands and all up to them. Tactically as a coach you can change things, but you can’t play the game for the girls. I trust our girls are well prepared and just as thrilled about the game, so it will be interesting.
