CampWell I’m on the plane back to Jersey. My trip has been prolonged of course due to this place called CHICAGO AIRPORT. Maybe I’ve jinxed my own self in saying that every time I fly through here I am delayed, but the truth is that it never fails.

My flight has now been delayed 4 hours because of strong winds in the Jersey area. It is better to be safe than sorry but at this point seeing that I’ve been up since 4:30 this morning I may not be thinking in terms of safety at this moment. It is now 3:30pm.

To make it worse I was stuck next to the meanest lady on my earlier flight. Do you think it was mean of me not to give up my window seat for an aisle when I love my window seat? I simple said no thanks with a smile and her reaction was to talk under her breath and breathe so heavily that I had to keep checking to see if she was running out of air. She just wasn’t a pleasant lady. I smiled at her at the end of the flight but she wasn’t into smiling either I guess. She just stormed off the flight. I sure hope her day has gotten better….

Well camp ended well. We tied the boys in our last game. The conditions were not the best on top of the SFU Mountain. Rain, rain, rain, and at least 10 degrees colder.

Even was kind enough to shorten the field and the game for us. I have a confession, but not without an explanation. I got scored on by a goalkeeper…straight from a punt. You see when I say the field was shortened that is exactly what I mean. Read the rest of this entry »

CampWell full day 1 is finally complete. It’s past midnight and we are just getting settled for bed. I won’t write much because of the time. We had our first scrimmage of 2006 tonight and lost 3-1 to the boys team U-18. We played well but as usual their speed caught up with us and they were able to put it away in the second half.

Camp has been great so far. It’s always so nice to see everyone. It’s been quite some time now, I think way back during the Germany series??? Sometimes it feels like it’s been forever since we’ve seen each other and at other times the exact opposite.

My camp didn’t start on the best note. I was up for my flight from Jersey at 4:45AM. I took the train into the airport where I patiently awaited my early flight. I had to fly through Chicago and from experience from flying through that airport, I was expecting a delay. Well, as we know, whatever you expect tends to come true and low and behold guess what happens? Yep, delayed.

I can’t complain much as I met Charmaine and Charlie there and for those of you who don’t know, Charlie is Charmaine’s adorable baby girl. She can occupy you for hours. I also bumped into an old Boston Breaker teammate who was on her way to recruit up here in Vancouver so we all hung out and the time seemed to fly by (no pun intended)! I should be a comedian shouldn’t I? Read the rest of this entry »
