FranceWe arrived in Strasbourg, France yesterday. It was a longer bus ride, we left the hotel at 8:30 and arrived at 3:00 but we enjoyed DVD’s and watched the game on the bus. The OC (first season) was what Andy, Amy, Kara and I enjoyed. Once you get started on one episode, it is really hard to put it away, but instead of sleeping on the bus, we got hooked and watched several episodes.

We were supposed to have had practice once we arrived, but the coaching staff changed it to a easier recovery session with Rob (our trainer). We did some things to get our legs moving and had dinner, but the real treat was walking around the town and seeing some of the sites. I’ve attached some of the pictures taken. It is really a beautiful place as you will see. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi everyone,

Well we played Germany again today and lost 3-2 but it was a great game to be a part of. The environment was once again amazing. It was a a great stadium, packed with enthusiastic fans. We even had some Canadian fans out there waving their flags and cheering us on which was great. Randee scored off a header and Sincy also had a nice goal of her own.

It was great to be out there again (my second game in the past 11 months due to my PCL tear and hip flexor injuries). I was quite excited to be playing especially at times like these when I remember those painful rehabilitation sessions which I made it through due to thoughts of playing in these kind of games once again some day. It is really an honor every single time I step on the field to represent my country. Hard work really pays off.

It was also great to play against my old WUSA gals (Prinz – from the Carolina Courage, Steffi Jones – from Washington Freedom, and C. Pohlars from Charmaine’s old team the Atlanta Beat). Read the rest of this entry »

GermanyHey everyone,

Hope this catches you all in the greatest spirits. I am sorry I have not written since my arrival but although we have been put up in some beautiful hotels, internet has NOT been one of the perks! In both our hotel in Holland, and our first one here in Germany there was one computer with the internet on it, and trying to get more than 5 minutes on it was near to impossible. I have many pictures to share, but that will have to come when I have an opportunity to hook my laptop up.

It has been a great trip so far. The weather has gotten only better as the days go by. We are currently in Hildesheim which is a historic town in Germany. We met the mayor of the town today at the City Hall and they welcomed us with a nice little tour and kind words which were translated to us. It is funny when you are listening to someone addressing you in a different language… you are never quite sure when to laugh or smile so you kinda just go off of what their expression is! It makes it for an interesting observation, to say the least…but it happens when all teams travel.

After that Sincy and Sophie did some interviews, as well as Even, live on the radio! When I get a chance I promise to send you some pictures because seeing Even in headphones almost as big as his head, was all too funny to us all. Sophie knows some German so she is quite helpful. HollandHey Everyone,

Thought I’d send you a couple pictures and let you guys know how the last day has gone. Actually technically it has been the last two days but with the amount of sleep we all got, I’ll say day.

Well we got in safe and sound but it was not as smooth as we’d all hoped. Diana Matheson and I were travelling together and we got here along with Sasha, Timko, Katie and Melissa. Originally the plan was that we were supposed to arrive a day earlier so there was a hotel room booked for the six of us.

Well, we got in around 7am and seeing that the team was not meeting until 2pm we all thought it would be a wonderful idea to head to the hotel and spend the next 7 hours sleeping peacefully in our rooms instead of on the floor in the airport … Read the rest of this entry »

New York CityHey guys,

I thought I’d add in some pictures from NY. I visited my sister for a day and thought it would be nice to share it with you guys.

I’ve been training hard for our upcoming European tour and I am really excited about it. We will be playing four games in three countries (Holland, two games against Germany and then one final game in France). These teams have been preparing for the European Championships which is a big thing over there, so these games will be great for us as they will be on top of the game.

It is always great to have games like these where we get to play in different environments against some of the best teams in the world. I can’t wait and I promise to keep you guys as updated as I can along the way. Hope all is well with everyone and wish us luck.
